on 21 March 2022. H.E. Acting Minister for Foreign Minister and Cooperation Jiliao da Silva sign the agreement with the Secretary General of g7+ Mr. Helder da Costa. The agreement on Financial support of the government of Timor-Leste to g7+ secretariat with the amount of $ 1,000,000 USD one million per year.

UNESCAP

Dili, Office of Ministry of Finance, In April 2021- Timor-Leste participated in the Seventy-seventh session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) under the theme, “Building back better from crises through regional cooperation in Asia and the Pacific, that the events were virtually participated by Her Excellency Minister Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and His Excellency Minister of Finance.

UN

Timor-Leste joined the United Nations in 2002. Since TL’s involvement in the UN, TL has participated in the various meeting of the UN, i.e; Timor-Leste participated in the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States of America.

ICC

The Hague, Netherlands, In December 2021 – Timor-Leste (through Office of the Prosecutor-General of Timor-Leste and MNEC) participated in the Twentieth Session (20th) of the Assembly of States Parties (ASP) to the Statute of Rome of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Small Island Development States

Small Island Developing States or SIDS are low-lying coastal countries that tend to share similar sustainable development challenges, including small but growing populations, limited resources, remoteness, susceptibility to natural disasters, vulnerability to external shocks, excessive dependence on international trade, and fragile environments.

Human Rights Council

On 14th April 2021 the Council of Minister approved Timor – Leste’s candidacy to the Human rights council for the terms 2024 – 2026. Should Timor- Leste be elected there are four Key priorities for Timor – Leste that need to be work in the Council which linkage with the government priorities such as:

TPNW & CTBTO

TPNW : In fact, the Nuclear Ban Treaty also called “UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons” was adopted on 7 of July 2017 in the Headquarter of the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA). This treaty has “opened for signature at United Nations headquarters in New York on 20 September 2017 and will remain open indefinitely, once 50 nations have ratified or acceded to it, it will enter into force”.

WIPO

WIPO : On November 2021, the Government of Timor-Leste and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) signed a MoU that lay the foundation upon which future cooperation can be based. This includes assisting Timor-Leste in short and long-run to assist in the establishment and operationalization of the Intellectual Property Office; Provision of skills and capacity building assistance for the benefit of government officials and other stakeholders, p

LDC

LDC Graduation : The Council of Ministers has designated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation to lead Timor-Leste’s graduation process from the category of LDC.

WHO

WHO : Officials of DNONU, as of the members of the Working Group for the Accession to the WTO continued to actively participate in the various meetings pertaining to the accession of Timor-Leste to the WTO. This includes the 2nd Working Party Meeting and Bilateral consultations with Canada, Indonesia, Australia, and the United States of America.

EU

UE : Timor-Leste and European Union have established the diplomatic relations since 20 May 2002. Timor-Leste strengthened the relations with European Union by ratifying the Cotonou Agreement on 19 December 2005. Under this Agreement Timor-Leste is entitled to the European external assistance from European Development Fund.

CPLP

Overview : On 20 May 2002, with the achievement of independence, Timor-Leste became the eighth member country of the Community and membership was formally made official at the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the CPLP, on 1 August 2002.
