WHO : Officials of DNONU, as of the members of the Working Group for the Accession to the WTO continued to actively participate in the various meetings pertaining to the accession of Timor-Leste to the WTO. This includes the 2nd Working Party Meeting and Bilateral consultations with Canada, Indonesia, Australia, and the United States of America. Additionally, the DNONU in coordination with the Permanent Mission of Timor-Leste to the UN also facilitated communications between the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the WTO Secretariat and WTO member States.
Timor-Leste’s accession to the WTO is still underway. In 2022, it is expected that Timor-Leste will continue to engage with the WTO member States on its Memorandum of Foreign Trade Regime (MFTR), continue the bilateral negotiation on its Initial Offer on Goods, and Services, and respond to request to participate in the various plurilateral negotiation of WTO. Moreover, the 3rd Working Party Meeting is also expected to take place in April 2022.
