Timor-Leste and the Kingdom of Bahrain established the diplomatic relations on 27 September 2019. Accreditation; Permanent Mission in NY
Islamic Republic of Iran
Timor-Leste and the Islamic Republic of Iran established the diplomatic relations on
10 November 2003. Iran embassy in Jakarta is also accredited to Timor-Leste.
State of Israel
Both countries established Diplomatic Relations on 20 May 2002
Bilateral Cooperation:
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Timor-Leste in cooperation with Arava International Center for Agriculture Training (AICAT) of Israel since 2015, has facilitated the conducting of the Job Training on Agriculture in AICAT, by the selected Timorese Agriculture Alumnus from the several Universities in Timor-Leste. As it results of implementation, currently, there are 72 of Timorese youth is still conducting their job training, in Israel, and the number 225 of Timorese youth have been completed the said job training.
Based on the request of the Timor-Leste side, AICAT-, Israel has agreed to increase the number of Timorese Agriculture’s alumnus from 100-150 per year. For the year 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture has sent the list 100 selected students to AICAT, Israel.
State of Kuwait
Timor-Leste and State of Kuwait established diplomatic relations on 16 December 2003.
- There is no bilateral cooperation between both countries however, in 2007, Kuwait donated a large number of blankets that were distributed to the poorest people living in the mountains of Timor-Leste where the temperatures are rather low. Kuwait also donated a large consignment of medical supplies worth over US$ 1 million dollars, as well as five new ambulances.
- In 2008, the State of Kuwait donated to the President of TL Dr. José Ramos Horta, 10 brands new BMW cars.
Lebanon
Timor-Leste and Lebanon established diplomatic relations in April 2005
The Sultanate of Oman
Timor-Leste and the Sultanate of Oman established diplomatic relations on 30 march 2022, by signing the Joint Communiqué between both Ambassador in New Work.
State of Palestine
Timor-Leste and the State of Palestine established diplomatic relations on 1 March 2004. Palestine is accredited to Timor-Leste from Canberra, Australia.
There is no bilateral cooperation between both countries, however, Palestine has intention to have a cooperation with Timor-Leste in the area of Agriculture and Health.
State of Qatar
Timor-Leste and the State of Qatar established diplomatic relations in May 2002. Qatar is accredited to Timor-Leste from Jakarta.
Bilateral Cooperation;
- Air Service Agreement (ASA) waiting for the date of signature.
- MoU for cooperation in the Legal Fields between TL and Qatar is still ongoing.
- Draft Agreement in the Field of Culture between TL and Qatar is still ongoing.
- Draft of MoU for Cooperation in the Field of Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research between the Government of Timor-Leste and the Government of Qatar (still ongoing process)
Saudi Arabia
Timor-Leste and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia established the diplomatic relation on 29 January 2015, there is no record of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia accredited to Timor-Leste, however, the communication is through its mission in Jakarta, and the permanent mission in NY.
The Republic of Turkey
Timor-Leste and Turkey established diplomatic relations in 2002.
Bilateral Cooperation:
- Framework Agreement between the Government of TL and the Government of Turkey still ongoing process.
- Visa Waiver Agreement between Timor-Leste and the Republic of Turkey still ongoing process.
United Arab Emirates
Timor-Leste established diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates on 13 November 2009. The United Arab Emirates is accredited to Timor-Leste from Jakarta.
Bilateral Cooperation;
- Timor-Leste and UAE have signed the Air Service Agreement on 19 October 2021, still in process of ratification by National Parliament of Timor-Leste.
- Visa Exemption for Holder of Diplomatic, Official/Service, Special and Ordinary passports TL has sent the final draft to UAE side and still a waiting for feedback.
Visit of Foreign Minister;
- HE. Dra. Adaljiza Xavier Reis Magno, visited Dubai, on 30-2 December 2021, to meet with her counterpart, HE. His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE, as well as visited to Timor-Leste’s pavilion.
